Fan Doesn't come on!!

Ok I have a 99 Grand AM GT, and sitting at idle the temp starts to creep up... that’s fine but the fan didn't come on. I'd heard that it was supposed to kick on at 210 but the gauge was reading 215-220 and still no fan. I know the fan works b/c once I turn on the AC it comes right on. Why won't it run on it's own???

Re: Fan Doesn't come on!!

they come on at 225/230deg, usually.

if they're coming on with the ac, I'd bet they work.
I've seen the temp get up to as much as 240-250 before they came on.

both my GAs used to run with the temp gauge straight up all the time.
always had me worried it was going to overheat or an intake gasket was bad

So I switched to the 185deg thermstat, and they run way under that mark.
