Strange Electrical Problem

I own a 1992 Bonneville SE. The problem is that my remote to lock/unlock/trunk stopped working. Also, my electric door locks don't work and the lights don't turn on when you open the door. I checked the fuses and they are fine. Any ideas on how I can fix this?

Re: Strange Electrical Problem

That many problems at once indicates a problem with the grounds. There are two ground busses on these cars that are known to cause problems. Here's a picture of the one on the drivers side. The other is in the same location on the passenger side. Pull the metal piece from the wiring harness & clean any corrosion with sandpaper. Also clean the contacts inside the harness. I'd use a light coating of dielectric grease before putting them back together. Let us know if this helps.

Re: Strange Electrical Problem

Are you sure that is the location of the ground busses in the 1992 Bonneville? I checked there on both the driver and passenger side. I found tubing containing wiring, but nothing with any kind of connectors that I could take off. Maybe I didn't look hard enough...

Do the ground busses plug into something that I maybe didn't see. What exactly should I be looking for?

Re: Strange Electrical Problem

I think that pic is from a 90 or 91. Look around a little more but if you can't find it put up a post at Bonnevilleclub.com.

Re: Strange Electrical Problem

Thanks for that link, I even looked a few times for a specific Bonneville forum but somehow never found that one. I'll post my problem on there and see if they know what to do. I'll post results if/when I get them
