Re: blow off valve for intake
![]() you need to put a potato in your exhaust first...it'll make it faster too!

Re: blow off valve for intake
Blow off valves are only for turbos, not intakes.
![]() Unless you're one of those people who want to get a fake blow off valve? Just for that "turbo sound". |

If you are looking to redirect exhaust flow, then you don't want a BOV, you want a waste gate....but its the same thing. If you have excessive exhaust pressure, then you have a plugged muffler. There should be no notable pressure on the intake or exhaust without a turbo anyway.

Re: blow off valve for intake
there's lots and lots of things you could do. Try to be a little more specific on your desires. We'll try to be specific on the answers.
If you just want a loud PSST sound....get a turbo.

Re: blow off valve for intake
ok. when i hit the gas i can hear the intake suck a lot of air in. i can hear it over the exsahst and my radio. it almost sounds like a bov. but anyway, would this be why my exsahst gurrgles so much.

Thats because you have no baffling on the intake. Put the stock airbox back in and it'll go away. As for the "gurgling" in the exhaust, its caused by two things mostly. Exhaust leaks and extremely low back pressure. Most likely its an exhaust leak.

Re: blow off valve for intake
A) gurgling could be from too little backpressure as said above. You mentioned you have a header. Do you also have a catback, how wide is hte catback and muffler?
B) You mentioned you have an rx7 MAF, are you running any kind of piggyback or anything to tune the ECU, or are you relying on the stock ECU to learn how to deal with all of these mods on its own? How about a full mod list.

Re: blow off valve for intake
well that's not going to help him. yes, he started off asking some questions about stuff that he had no idea about so we're trying to help him. instead of just saying "this is stupid" why don't you help someone out. i bet there's a shitload of stuff you know nothing about, you want to learn about it, you wouldn't if everyone here was like you. grow up and stop acting like you own the world.
anyways, if you put a bigass fart can (one of those big mufflers) then that's your problem, put a better muffler on it. if not it could be an exhaust leak, do you smell exhaust inside your car? there isn't much that you can do without replacing some parts, you CAN buy some of that exhaust tape and that might bandage it for a while but it's not going to fix the problem and you'll just end up using that stuff again. if you feel confident enough, replace some exhaust parts, lots of aftermarket exhausts are bolt ons so you don't need to so any welding. find the hole and see what parts are available, decide wether or not you want to fix it yourself or bring it to a mechanic.
