325i Tacho Failure
I am rebuilding an '87 325i. mechanicially it is fairly straight forward to work with, but I ahve a lot of problems electrically. The really annoying one is no tacho working.
I have checked the Si board batteries etc, they are fine. The mpg gague works fine. I am guessing that there is a problem with the electrical connection to the engine. Does anyone have any idea where I can look? |

one of the known issues with the E30 is the instrument panel, it tends to fail. the previous owner of my car had the odometer go out at 7211 miles. he had it fixed and it has been no problem since then. i think you may want to carefully check the circuit boards for cracks and the ic's for solid connections to the board.
i usally would have recommended bmwe30.net but it recently has been shut off.

Thankyou, I will take it all back out and have another look. My car has had a hard life, so I expect that I will find a problem like this. What happened to bmwe30.net? I hope that all their info is not lost!
