moonroof stuck open - fuse or switch?

The moonroof on my 95 4runner is stuck all the way open. The second little button you have to push while closing it is currently pushed in and stuck there (though it was moving freely yesterday & it wouldn't close then either). The motor still runs when you push the larger switch into open position - but no noise or roof movement when trying to close. Is that second little close switch on a separate fuse? If so, where are the fuses for this located? I've taken the panel off to have a closer look and the little switch doesn't seem to be broken.

As for manually closing it, I know that you use a screwdriver to disengage the motor and close it - but it's beyond tight and I can't get it to turn at all... is this normal?

Thanks to anyone who has any suggestions!

Re: moonroof stuck open - fuse or switch?

You will have to check to see if the switch is getting power in and when you push the button, power goes out. Use a wiring diagram to help trace the circuit. Does the motor get power when you push the switch? Test at the connector to the motor. You may have a bad contact in the motor. Bad relay. Bad switch. A wiring diagram and a meter/test light should narrow it down.

Re: moonroof stuck open - fuse or switch?

w/ the switch out, disconnect a terminal and short the switch. if that works its a bad switch. which its sounds is only part of the problem (stuck) but not the problem. one fuse, so thats not the issue as the motor still functions.
get a meter and try KimMG suggestions

Re: moonroof stuck open - fuse or switch?

Thanks for all the advice! I really don't have much in the way of electrical knowledge, so a few of the suggestions are over my head - however, I found a bargain salvage switch and will try it just to see. So my main problem is how to close the darn thing manually in the meantime (of course rain is on the way). There must be some trick to it? A regular or a power screwdriver don't even make the screw budge.
