How do I empty my gas tank?

Before my car died on me I put pretty much put a full tank of gas in the car and with gas prices at $3+, I was wondering how i could get the gas out of my car. Its been sitting in my driveway with a full tank of gas, the car doesnt run anymore, ive tried to use a cyphening hose that a freind has but the hose doesnt reach, i think there is a screen or something.

Re: How do I empty my gas tank?

usually cars have a screen or something. do this. get a jack under the tank to support it, take the straps off, and slightly remove the filler neck from the tank. its a slow way of doing it but it works.

Re: How do I empty my gas tank?

or you can do it the easy way...just take the hose going to your FPR, and pu a LONGER hose that will reach outside the engine bay (5 bucks at napa) hook it to the fuel line on the firewall you took the hose of the FPR from, and put that hose into a bucket...gas can...ect...and then just turn the key to on...and the fuel pump should push the gas itself

if the pump stops pumping...which it should somewhat (maybe not) then just turn the key off and the back on...and taaadaaa...

Re: How do I empty my gas tank?

He said the car doesn't start which could mean the fuel pump doesn't work, but if the fuel pump does work, driftking's idea is the best, if not, just take the gas tank out.

Re: How do I empty my gas tank?

How long as the car been sitting there? You dont want to put a month old gas in the car. All that trouble to save $25 worth of gas??? Come on man. lol/ But yeah, if you are going to go through that, drift's way is the way to do it. pump that sucker out.
