Fuel Gauge Broke. Anyone ever fix there's

Mine is broke on my 2000 3.5L. When I say broke, it basically has a mind of its own. I have seen multiple posts with those having the same problem, but have yet to see anyone fix this. Has anyone? Was is difficult?

Re: Fuel Gauge Broke. Anyone ever fix there's

The most common fuel gauge problem is the fuel level float and sending unit which is part of the fuel pump assembly. However, the sending unit can be purchased separately and replaced without replacing the expensive fuel pump pod. There should be an access cover in the trunk behind the rear passenger seat that can be removed to pull the fuel pump pod if you are DIY capable. In the pic below I replaced just the part mentioned and it works like a champ now.

bnaylor: Where did you buy the sending unit? I've been told everything as one unit.

Same here, I called to parts store and a local dealer. All said it was one unit.

If you had a specific place, give me the number to contact.

Thanks!

Yeah, that is typical. The level sending unit has always been available separately without having to get the whole fuel pump assembly.

I got mine through an AC Delco Authorized Parts Distributor. Cost is around $90. For a 2000 Intrigue the AC Delco part number is SK1028. Called Sensor Kit, Fuel Level.

I have the GM part number but I will have to look for it and provide the name of a good source.

I would think twice before going to a dealer for that part. The GM List price is $160. Best price I got was $131 from the local Caddy/Olds dealer.

I provided a reliable AC Delco source to the orginal poster by PM.
