Transmission helpers

Hey guys back again, I'm going to buy a mad dog transmisson 700r4 http://www.maddogtransmissions.com/new_index.htm rated at 550hp...but my question is i don't have a motor in the car any where close to 550hp just yet and i'm starting to wonder if that will cause a problem? with a torque convert for a 550hp motor compaired to my stock 170hp motor will this cause a problem?
also if anyone has heard about maddogs transmissions and have anything good or bad to say about them i need to know now so i can know to keep looking or not..any one knows a good transmisson for about the same price with torque converter that could handle about 400+ hp

Re: Transmission helpers

never heard of em.

the 550 rating is what in can handle without grenading all over the street and will not have any impact on your motor.

Re: Transmission helpers

apparently that idea is out the window now. Do what one of those guys said, try to find a local builder.

Re: Transmission helpers

I think b&m makes a 700r in that price range. They are a bit pricey but are good quality. But I would definetly dig around where you are at. Go to some car shows and see who built their transmissions and find out who is good to use.

Re: Transmission helpers

The rating is the maximum, there's no minimum power level that goes along.
