It's alive!!!! 5spd conversion complete

Started right up last night. Purrs like a kitten. Took a little while, but my 5spd conversion is now complete. Put in an ACT clutch, which has a little bit of chatter right now, but hopefully it will fade soon once it starts breaking in. VLSD tranny with only 7k miles works great. Ah, just got to get it broken in and I'm off to the track again, hopefully 14's NA...

First of all thanks... Now on to the question, the cost... I got the tranny from Canada with only 7k miles on it, and it's a VLSD, cost was $700 shipped. ACT clutch was $340, axles were $200, and the rest of the parts about $200, so that equals about $1400, But I sold my nitrous for almost $700, and I'm selling my auto tranny, which only has 10k miles on it for $500, so total cost for me should end up being around $200...

It took a lot longer than I expected. I installed the pedals a couple weeks before the tranny, and that took about 6 hours. The tranny install took about 2 days, about 24 hours total.

From your results you did great. Most of the comments I read about a conversion on the ORG steered folks away from a conversion but I guess if an auto owner who happens to be mechanicaly inclined like yourself, and has the time, it will be a worthwhile upgrade. You almost make me want to do the conversion and I probably would if it was not for the speed of the 2k2 and 2k3 Maxes. Again great job!
