'95 caravan 3.0 highbeam always on...

The highbeam lights and indicator on my '95 caravan are always on even if the ignition is off and the key removed. I tried looking for the relay and fuse but there's nothing. Then I tried replacing the multifunction switch where the headlight dimmer switch is located but still the same problem, I even tried it without the switch but the light is still on. I have the Haynes Repair Manual but the informations on it are not updated.

Re: '95 caravan 3.0 highbeam always on...

There is no high beam relay. The power for the high beams comes through the low beam relay which is activated by the headlight switch. Except when the high/low switch is held in the flash (momentary) position. Then the low beam relay is bypassed. The power distribution goes from fuse# 61 to circuit breaker#11 to low beam relay to high/low (dimmer) switch to high beams. The low beam relay is on the relay block, behind the left side of the dash. There should be up to 10 relays there. My information does not say which ones are which however it should say in your owners manual. Just looking at the headlight wiring diagram for your car, the only way that I see for your problem to happen is for a wire to be shorted to power (not very likely) or for the high/low (dimmer) switch to be bad. If pulling fuse number 61 turned the lights off then that would eliminate the short to power option unless the short was to within the circuit(s) that fuse number 61 supplies. Hope this helps.
