Cool Mclaren F1 Road Car Badges

Hello, recently i have seen various mclaren f1 badges for sale, and i was just wondering if anyone had any more info on these badges, i.e. how many were produced (in total and different colours)?, were they offical badges and produced by mclaren? Did they do other official versions (i.e. LM and GTR badges)? etc. thanks all information is much appriciated, thanks.

Re: Mclaren F1 Road Car Badges

The term "badge" is a bit misleading on these. These are essentially lapel pins - the "F1" and "LM" are about the size of a dime and the "GTR" ones are a bit smaller than a quarter. These were originally made by McLaren as promotional items.

Re: Mclaren F1 Road Car Badges

The green "F1" pin symbolizes the GT. I've never seen a specific "GT" pin by itself.

Re: Mclaren F1 Road Car Badges

Scratch that - I was wrong. There was a "GT" pin afterall.

I really should open my eyes before my mouth sometimes.

Re: Mclaren F1 Road Car Badges

Dug through my image archive and found a picture of it. I don't recall seeing one for sale by itself, but at one point someone sold a set of the pins and it was included. I'll share the photo later.

Re: Mclaren F1 Road Car Badges

Yes it only came in the collection. It was handed out with christmas cards, folded in half with all the pins inside.

Small textured card with the grey F1 logo on front.

Thanks for the details.

I've only ever seen the entire set sold together like this once.

Re: Mclaren F1 Road Car Badges

Thanks Peloton25, great picture, Im suprised because lookin at that set i have seen different colours, i.e. light orange and light green, but its probably that the colour has faded /fake copies but im unsure , have a look,

Re: Mclaren F1 Road Car Badges

its a trick of the camera, the orange one is kandy orange same colour as #073 (or the closest match!) this one is actually painted, inset into the pin like the Dark Blue F1 pin, and the black F1 pin too.

the other pins have a flat smooth front surface, its hard to explain, but once you have one in your collection im sure you will see what i mean! (these are enamelled)
