Did all the Z28 camaro's have a posi rear? I am looking at a rear end in the classifed and it is out of a 84 z28 with rear disk. That is posi right? He said it is on jacks when he spins one wheel the other spins the oppisite way. posi?

Re: posi?

When you get a rear end with 3.08's or lower, the carrier is different than one with 3.23's or higher. When putting in the new gears you'll need a spacer too, which is about $60 new. That $60 plus the cost the rear end will likely outweigh the cost of finding a 3.42 rear end.

Re: posi?

What do you have now? I've seen 3.42 complete limited slip rear ends sell for $200 and less. That's what I would buy if it were me.

Re: posi?

i what 3.73's. Mine right now is a stock 10 bolt rear. it has stock gear and every thing, oppen diff, i think. Because when i do a burnout, it will go posi for the first like 15 feet then will leave one wheel. i think it is open diff. No clue what stock gears are. But i was going to pull the rear out and put 3.73's and a mini spool.

Re: posi?

Read your RPO's and find out what gears you have. My '92 RS had limited slip don't remember the ratio tho. My '98 has limited slip 3.42's. I'd find out what I had first before I go deciding on changes.

On my 92 it was in the inside of the plastic interior trim panel in the rear hatch area right above the spare tire.
