Help Locating Vehicle Speed Sensor

I have looked for diagrams, pulled out my old 93' Prelude service manual to find it, searched this forum to death, but I cannot located the VSS. I have a 1995 Accord ex 4 cylinder manual tranny. I can't see it from under the car or over the engine. I pulled out the intake, still nothing. Can anyone please help?

Also, I've seen that if the speedometer is peged at 20, and the cruise continues to work, the VSS isn't the problem its the cluster that is bad. Do I need a whole new cluster or is there a part in the cluster that I can replace. I haven't taken the cluster out yet to look at it. I got a speeding ticket this weekend, but the cop wrote me up before I could tell him the speedometer was broken. He thought it was funny I was sitting on the side of the road and it was reading 20. He told me get it fixed and take the receipts to the court date on thursday. Now I'm scrambling to get it fixed.

Re: Help Locating Vehicle Speed Sensor

Hmm, so VSS can be a pain to find. The way I did it, was to search for the speed sensor online, that way you can get an idea of what it looks like so at least you know what your looking for. Generally speaking the VSS will be near or on the transmission. I have a 1994 accord lx, manual transmission, and the speed sensor is on the back end of the transmission, under the intake manifold.

Secondly, this is my reccomendation to you. The spedometer cluster, you can replace individual parts, but i dont know about you, but im not into fine detail on stuff i can just buy and replace. The spedometer is a very sensitive instrument so it is easy to break if you dont replace it with care. Plus, you will rarely find just the spedometer part of a cluster for sale. Most places sell the whole cluster. My reccomendation, buy the whole cluster, its easy to replace, and it will save you time and frustration. Its something that you can do yourself, and you may save yourself some ticket money!
