02 Envoy Dies while driving down the road

Background. Had a problem with car going out of gear while driving down the road. If you switched to auto 4wd after you stoped it would go just fine.We replaced the switch and it worked fine for 6 mo. Happened again while on the road so switched to auto 4wd and on I went. After driving 400 miles the engine just dies. I coast to the side of the highway, turn everything off and try to restart the car. Turn the key and nothing. Wait a couple of minutes and it starts. I take off but it wont shift out of first so I pull over, turn off and restart. Take off again and it shifts into second but that is all. Repeat the procedure and it works fine considering. Now the abs and parking break light come on and the message board reads service breaks. Will not run in 2wd, noise from transfer case. Codes say to replace some break components to the tune of $900 plus, but that doesnt address the other problems. Any ideas short of junk yard

Yes have it checked out by a tech who is familiar with theses trucks, some of the symptoms point to a bad ignition switch, but proper diagnosis is required. Transfer case may be a seperate issue, but start with the electrical problem.

Re: 02 Envoy Dies while driving down the road

Update on repairs. Replaced temp sensor cured the outside temp reading stuck on 50. New pcm fixed the brake message and speedometer problem. New encoder motor on transfer case fixed shifting problems. Alls well except for the outside mirrors ,and now we sell. By the way the pcm was covered under the original warranty, 70000 mi.
