Using Jack Stands

Unfortunately the front jack points on my Lumina appear to be missing. There's an arrow that points to a part of the underside that does not look reinforced for jacking like it does at the rear. Well, it did look like the rest until I jacked it up where it said and now it's just a little bent out of shape. I was wondering what other points on the chassis can be used for lifting the front of the vehicle with a floor jack and then supporting it with jack stands. Is there a standard place where these can usually be used on any car without damage?

I would use your floor jack. Jack up the van on one side at the engine frame. It is the ones with the round rubber mounts underneath the van. Install your jack stands under that frame also. Lower the floor jack and do the other side.
Block the back tires so it doesn't roll.
Put a device under each front side so if the van falls it will not crush you if it breaks or tips and falls(tire rim, large log, etc) I have trusted jack stands and ramps for along time but you never know when that time ends.

Re: Using Jack Stands

i use the ezcarlift that does the jacking and the holding of the whole car, so no need to lift, then hold with jack stands.

it is basically the lift and the stand that raises the whole car at the same time.
