Re: carpet removal 96 xj
Replacing carpet is a lot of fun (at least it is not greasy). I use to work at dealers on Jags and Mazdas. Yea, the seats and every thing has to come out.
First, make a lot of room in your garage. Take out all the seats. The console: a. take off the shifter handle; b. pull up the shift cover; disconnect wires as needed; c. remove center glove box cover; d. remove screws at bottom of the glove box; e. remove screw holding front of console; f. remove anything else (I can't remember any more, but you can take it all the way out). You might want to loosen all the plastic or remove completely the rocker panel covers. Also the two front kick panels on the sides, over the fuse box on right. |

Re: carpet removal 96 xj
There should be a number of screws holding the console in, once you've gotten them and the console out, it should be pretty easy to see/remove the carpeting.
