modification questions
I'm in the process of lightening my flywheel. I have a '00 civic vti with a sohc vtec engine. I think it's the d16y8. I'm from the philippines.
everything is stock except that I changed the high tension wires and air filter. i've been told that I should only shed off 1 kilo from the fly because of the weight of the car and that if I shed too much, i'd lose power on the 3rd gear onwards. is that true? I'm not really into going for the max speed. i'm after quick acceleration so it's probably okay for me to lose top speed. So how much weight should I shed off from the fly which would yield excellent results? also, I think it would cause my clutch lining to wear out faster. what do you guys think? i read somewhere that it would also affect the idling and make it "rough" (what do they mean by that?) if ever, how do I resolve that issue? thanks a lot! |

Re: modification questions
This is definately a question that could be better answered in the Honda>Civic section.

Re: modification questions
i wouldnt lighten a flywheel that wasnt designed to be that light....you could ruin the structual integrity of it and cause a failure.... i would buy a lightweight flywheel and install that
