1994 ford taurus keeps blowing the turn singnal fuse. shifting from park to drive it blows. sitting in park it blows. i have replaced all the bulbs, the brake lights work, the hazzard lights work. the 15 amp fuse is for the turn singals and the back up lights, and the rear defroster. why is it blowing.

Re: 1994 ford taurus blowing fuse

Try searching this forum for threads related to issues with the Transmission Range Sensor, TRS. I'm not sure you'll find any with similar symptoms, but worth a try.

The next step I would try is to isolate the leg of the circuit that has the low resistance path. I assume you have a wiring diagram for your car. If not, get one, you'll have a difficult time tracking down the cause without a diagram.

Armed with the diagram, try removing all bulbs in that circuit. See if the fuse still blows. If so, unplug the rear window defroster. See if the fuse blows.

If the fuses are getting expensive, you can rig up a test light to replace the fuse and limit the available current to the circuit. Isolate away until the test light barely glows. Once you are to that point, start installing other items one at a time until the test light glows brightly again, indicating you've likely found your problem circuit leg. Then trace that leg and see what you find.
