This is my first time dealing with this type of ignition. I rather have electronic ignition suck as a coil pack with spark plug wires. This way I could upgrade easily. Are there any upgrades out there for a IDI? Is this a better system then the commom coil pack system?
One more question: To reset the "change oil light" I turn the Acc on, floor it 3 times then turn it off? Thanks, Tom |

Re: IDI ignition system
I'm not aware of any upgrades and it is just the way the 2.2 Ecotec engine is. Other engines like the 3.5L V6 LX5 found on the Olds Intrigue and Aurora are similar in design.
To reset the oil life monitor: Ignition to on. On driver's side fusebox is a RESET button.. Press RESET. The change oil light should flash. Then press and hold RESET button again. You will hear chimes and the change oil light should now be out. The RESET button is located at the top of the fuse panel. Marked Oil/Tire.
