Re: TT conversion ?

I believe the wiring is different between the 1st and 2nd gen 6G72. You can make it work but I believe you will have to do a little modification work on your wiring. But then agian you would anyway since its a TT.

Re: TT conversion ?

You'll run into wiring issues when/if you try to use the 93 ecu. Which may turn out to be a real PITA. I mean the wiring harnesses are completely different, and that will only add to the complexity. Can't really think of anything off the top of my head other than that. Basically I don't forsee any problems, just wire harness headaches.

Your 1996 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 is the 92nd out of the 315 that were made that year. Only 21 of which are exactly identical.

Re: TT conversion ?

send a PM to Zeiss. he recently completed the TT conversion and could answer any questions you have.

but you have the right idea to go about it. its cheapest if you just find a wrecked TT car for cheap, buy the whole car, then use it as a parts car.

however, as the guys said, wiring harness is a big issue. basically, you want a TT ECU and wiring harness. this is b/c our NA engine is a high compression 10:1 motor. when introducing boost, you run into problems with tuning b/c our NA ECUs don't have much of a concept of timing. the TT ECU can better monitor timing (and pull timing if needed), and you can more easily tune with the TT ECU.

Re: TT conversion ?

Not to highjack, but can you plug a DOHC n/a ECU into a VR4 motor?

you mean will a dohc na ECU fit into a TT wiring harness? good question. i think it would, but there are a lot of TT sensors in the harness that wouldn't be used in the ECU, so it wouldn't seem worth it.

Re: TT conversion ?

YOu can run a TT engine on a NA ECU and SAFC for fuel correction, BUT you will not get the same power as you would with a TT ECU. It has been dyno tested to show as much as a 50 whp difference.
