Windshield Wiper Arm/Blade

So today I went to replace my windshield wiper blades but I was told that I would have to replace each arm as $50 each. Does that seem right to anybody, also I was looking through my book and it looks like you need a special tool to remove the arm from the nut? So my question is has anyone done this before and
A- Replaced just the blade
B- If you had to replace the arm did you need any special tools?

Re: Windshield Wiper Arm/Blade

I changed the wiper baldes on my 94 camaro and I never had to replace the arms. Not sure if they are the same setup or not, but I do not see why you would have to replace the arms. I would tell whoever told you that that they are full of shit...

Exclamation Re: Windshield Wiper Arm/Blade

IT's true that the arm cost $50 buckaroos at the dealer. If it's not broken you can just repaint them. You can't replace the blade with standard ones you buy off the shelf, they dont' fit. What you do, go to pep boys get the 24 inch refill blade but look for the the thin size. It says on the package. There are two different width sizes. I can't remember the brand name. Each about $4+. The dealer has them also for $8+. Or go to vehicle salvage place to get the whole blade if you have to replace them. I have same problem with my 96 camaro amd it was a surprise that I could'nt find the blade the will go into the wiper arm.

Re: Windshield Wiper Arm/Blade

meh, there IS a special size that says "Fits late model Camaro/Firebird" (the anco's say that at least), but I'm using other ones right now and they're fine. Just go to the local autozone or advanced or napa or whatever.... for wipers, wal-mart or such will do also... and look up in the book what size it says to use, and just get that
