American GT

I was in the pits right before an American GT road race started at Limerock Park. It was great to hear all of the V8s but I didn't see one, not one firebird. I'm always seeing them in drag races but never as race cars. Do you know why?

This is kind of going back to the no-firebirds-in-racing-games because of their unpopularity but I don't think that's the reason.

I did seem kind of vague there. I saw 4.6L mustangs, LT1 camaros, LS1 camaros, C5s and what I thought were Cadillacs but actually Mangusta

...no wait that's a mispelled mustang..okay I was wrong, there really are mangustas...weird, AND CUTLASSES!!! There were several f-bodies but no race firebird. Imagine if there were several firebird race cars, and then think of the one reason that in reality there aren't any. I googled this and found ONE firebird race car used in SCCA. Just one. So why is that?

I'm not sure. Never really thought about it or had any interest in that field. My guess would have to be because it's counterpart Camaro was a more popular car to modify. Shoot, I have people constantly calling my car a Camaro...

My god i thought i was the only one! People always say to me "so hows yur camaro doin?" or "man thats a nice thunderbird u got there"

Man, I tell ya. It pisses me off sometimes, especially when it's the same freakin person who I had already had to correct in the past and yet they still forget and call it a Camaro. I swear, that's why I'm gettin a PONTIAC banner across my windsheild, I'm lookin for one that's metallic silver (same color as my car, obviously) and that's reflective when light hits it, kinda like cop cars decals. See if anyone calls it a Camaro then.

i think theres more camaros just because they were a cheaper car + more camaros out there than firebirds..

personally, i like the 98+ firebird w. the ramair. that shit is mean!

then the 97 bird

i just dont like the birds ass. looks a bit.. round. i want a camaro back end + firehawk front end.

LOL a Firemaro. It's been done before with third gens. Haven't seen a 4th gen hybrid, but my advice, don't do it. The camaro's back reminds me of the corvette and that's why I like it but the firebird is so streamlined.

I don't know if you know this but in the Trans Am series of racing, which each car hits 60 in 3 seconds flat, side exhausts etc, the don't allow firebirds but they allow Camaros. I can understand the trans am trans am confusion but I don't think that's it. Do you think maybe they add an IRS to the camaros so it handles better?

next time somone mixes them up just give 'em a quick karate chop to the throat. i doubt they'll soon forget.
