Question 1995 Pontiac Grand Prix, 3.4L, DOHC question? female in need of help!

I got this car thinking that the timing belt only needed to be changed only to find that it had a lot more problems than the guy said it did.....typical eh? Well, I ended up having to remove the heads and I cleaned those up and hand lapped them, got new gaskets and everything. Put it all together and started it and it had a water leak, and a loud consistent knocking noise. I ended up finding the water leak problem, the intake manifold broke. I just replaced that today and tried starting it and it only ran for a couple seconds then shut right back down. Now, I made sure that everything was put back together...do any of you guys have a clue??????

Does the knock come from up high or down low in the engine. Down low could be rod or main bearings, up high could be faulty hydraulic timing belt tensioner, bent valve, or improperly torqued upper end components.
