Porsche 550 Spyder
I've had this 1/64 Maitso 550 for ages looking for a set of wheels to replace those huge mudders that came on it. Don't get me wrong in the proper application they look great. But not on that 550. Oddly I got a Kids Connection 5 pk of Maisto convertables that had a set of wheels that set well under the car. I cut the rear deck off and molded another pan motor out of Magnum Steel. I really wish I could find a good likeness of a VW motor in 1/64 diecast but til I do I'll just have to plug along with what I got. I also opened up the vent grate on the rear deck by under cutting the deck from the inside. When I got it thin enough I took a single edge razor blade and punched all the openings through leaving the grate work. It now sets right and I have some "Little Bastard" decals ready to print once I get enough to fill up a clear sheet. FYI for those that may not know the #130 "Little Bastard" was the car James Dean was killed in. If you don't know who James Dean was your too young to be reading words like "Little Bastard."

Re: Porsche 550 Spyder
Great job! Are you gonna make up the LB decals for it?

Yeah. I'm laying out a 5x7 clear sheet but I only have several images on it at present. At the rate I'm filling the sheet up it could be months before I get enough on it to make it worth while to go to print. |
