YJ engine swap ?

Has anyone ever put a ford 302 in a YJ?I have seen many chevy's in jeeps, but no ford engines. The reason Im asking is because a buddy of mine has a 82 ford f-150 with rebuilt 302 (4x4) that he is going to junk, and told me that I could have what ever I wanted from it.He has two trany's one is a standerd the other is a automatic not sure on what they are,but both bolt up.would this be a good choice,or should I look for a chevy? My only thought is that its FREE everything is in great shape except the frame is twisted from his dad backing into a tree pretty hard.

Re: YJ engine swap ?

thanks for the info on that site.It definatly made my mind up. sounds like a great swap.My only Q is should I stay with a 4 speed or go automatic? My buddy told me that it's geard real low with the standerd in it now.Still not sure what tranny's he has.
