Radio removal on 01 Montana
My brother in law and I have decided to change the stock am/fm radio on his 01 Montana with an aftermarket radio, now with this being said, we really have no idea how to go abouts removing the radio off the van.
Ive tried checking out installdr.com but they dont have the procedure(s) or the vehicle model for the Pontiac montana. Now, someone had mentioned that there is a possibllitly that the van 'wouldnt start' if we changed the radio with an aftermarket one - is this true?? Would someone be kind enough to post a step by step process on removal and installation/wiring of these vehicles - as in bolt locations and such? Also, is a "bypass" required or any special hardware required when the new radio is installed? Thanks! |

Re: Radio removal on 01 Montana
Check cruthcfield.com. It should at least tell you if you need the special wiring adapter like my 2002 Aztek.

Re: Radio removal on 01 Montana
Well i just did the radio on my 02 montana so if it is the same i can help you out. there is 2 screws undneath the cup holder which hold the face of the cup holder on, take these out first and carefully remove. then i think there is two screws located underneath the cup holder which now should be accsesable. then if i remember right it should the piece that covers the radio and your controls should snap out. then you will have acsess to the four screws that hold the radio in. Now you will need to get a wiring harness and a installation kit to put the radio in. Now this is the part they don't tell you. You have to run a ignition wire from the fuse panel because there is not one on the factory deck. after this just reverse the steps to put everything back togeather. Hope this helps
