Unhappy Battery light problems..98 contour

I have a battery light that has a mind of it's own. It comes on and off when it wants to more on now than off. Also you can be driving down the road at 55mph and the car will shut completely off all the gages work but the motor dies. I have changed the alta. and also the battery it hasen't made any diffrence. I have hooked it up to a di-o machine it will not tell me anything any diffrent either. I have also replaced the belt as well as the hot and ground cables to and fraom the atl.Does anybody have any idea how to fix this problem?I have spent to much I need some answers please...thank you

Im hoping you have the V6. If you do, right behind the rear valve cover is a wiring harness. Pop that open and youll be able to see the megafuse.
