so last night was interesting...

I go out with a friend to a local bar, we are drinking, being social and talking to pretty much everyone. After a few conversations I start talking to these 3 guys. Find out 2 worked at my old detail shop, so we chatted. The conversation naturally progressed to cars where some how this came up:

http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...hlight=integra

Notice the date of that thread.

Apparently they were friends of the guy who beat me in the Integra. I asked what he had done to it, and the one guy just keeps saying it's a turbo LS, not really telling me much. I ask what it was doing in the 1/4 at the time.
He said something like 15.5 at like 108 (can't remember exactly, but it was something like that)

I say something to the effect of, 'I thought it was faster than that, and that 15.5 at 108 doesn't make any sense'. Then I remember i had trouble with a v6 f-body, so whatever. I then try and tell the guy my car wasn't running right, and he says, 'it doesn't matter, it makes perfect sense'. I ask how so, and he tells me I have 50% drivetrain loss and my car weighs 7,000lbs.

I tell him it's nowhere near that...no car has 50% drivetrain loss and it's 3,800lbs. He then argues, he has a car with 100% drivetrain loss. I argue with him for a bit, telling him at most an AWD car is looking at like 30% drivetrain loss, no car has 100%. At which point he says, it has a broken clutch, no power goes to the wheels, therefore 100% drivetrain loss. Fine, whatever. My car still doesn't lose 50% to the wheels. At this point the conversation has become a bit more heated...because let's face it, that is bound to happen when you are drinking and talking about cars.

I tell him that when I get my car going again, I wouldn't mind racing his friend again. I mention I was thinking high 12s were possible with the mods I have now. The guy informs me it doesn't matter I have no chance He was running 15.5 at 108 and I have no chance with a car running 2 and a half seconds faster?? Well whatever, maybe he went nuts and swapped in a massive turbo and fuel mods. But before I get a chance to ask, my 'friend' who knows not a freaking thing about cars, stabs me in the back with "he's right, you lost to a 6 cylinder camaro" and follows it up with the haymaker "And anyway, how long has it been since your car worked"

Whereupon the other guy laughs and I pay my bill and fight the urge to break my friend's nose for 15 minutes.

Moral of the story, don't drink adn talk about cars, religion, or politics it never goes well.

Re: so last night was interesting...

You couldn't be more right about the very last sentence in your post Igover....everytime I discuss any of those it always end up as a fight...like last week when a guy tried convincing me that Bush sold weapons of mass destruction to Iraq and Iran . Lol, so how did the rest of the night go between you and your buddy?

Re: so last night was interesting...

He'd been being a prick the last 2 times we went out, because he was getting hammered and then being overly protective of his 'crush'. So he'd already been a prick to me Friday and Saturday night, to teh point where I left the bar both times to avoid an incident. So this was pretty much just the straw that broke the camels back. This time I flipped out on him.

Re: so last night was interesting...

Yeah but you really can't argue about religion and politics under any setting because nothings concrete, so you can't convince anybody to change their opinion....

Cars can be the same, where there is not 1 right answer

The problem is, without booze these arguments just get to yelling...with booze they can get violent

Re: so last night was interesting...

yeah thats probrably one of hte biggest downside of owning a turbo car. everything has to work 100% for it to be fast.

anyways just catch him off the streets and blow him away. but that teg traps at 108mph. it should give you a very good fight from a roll.

Re: so last night was interesting...

I knew the story would involve booze...

You dont need to be drinking to get into fights with your friends. Last night Gotian nearly ripped out my spine cause i joked about his car. I nick named it "Boom Boom" cause with all the messing around he does increasing the boost past twice what it was stock I tell him its bound to blow up. He got pissed cause he has a leak in the coolant line and I mentioned it and welll it was funny.
