Blu-Ray or HD-DVD?

Which one do you think will win this?
Will Sony be crushed again with the Blu-Ray? Or will it win with the PS3 coming out in November?

Re: Blu-Ray or HD-DVD?

people usually go for what's mainstream...everyone knows HD is better than this and HD is better than that but blu-ray is new and unheardof...kinda like it's late in the HD game...i believe the majority will go with HD-DVD and only a few will go with Blu-Ray...kinda like cd's and mini-discs

but of the 3 it will probably go like this...dvd > hd-dvd > blu-ray

Re: Blu-Ray or HD-DVD?

I think regular dvds are on their way out.

HD-DVDs are going to become more popular as more people get larger HD televisions. Once the cost of the HD players comes down everyone with an HD tv will own one.

Re: Blu-Ray or HD-DVD?

Yeah but nothing is wrong with current DVDs. That's just the thing. Will HD-DVD players play older DVDs since there are millions of them and they keep coming?
Because I don't think I'll be able to convert my entire movie collection to another format any time soon. It would run me thousands of dallors to do so.

They need to make it so that every player can run older styled DVDs so that we can still use them way into th future.

Re: Blu-Ray or HD-DVD?

Yes, hd dvd players will play older dvd'd, its just like an hd tv, the picture quality is a little better. One of my friends has one, watches stuff on a 35" hd tv, brought it over and hooked it up to my tv, 42" plasma hd, holy crap I gotta get one of those!!!

Re: Blu-Ray or HD-DVD?

Blu-Ray.. the Ps3 will launch it into the mainstream, I think what Sony is doing with that is a smart move..
