Worth keeping?
i have a 1990 4.0 4x4 and it has a laundry list of problems. needs new tires, has "death wobble", back power windows dont work (one is down), power door locks dont work, cruise control is broke, needs new bushings badly, and worst of all, it has 2 oil leaks, rear main seal, i think, and the t-case leaks too.
so i was thinking of selling it and getting another jeep. think thats a better idea than trying to fix all the problems? |

Re: Worth keeping?
i just bought (tuesday) exactly what you are selling for $500. . . . guy wanted $1200. after a month and a half he called me back. Oil leaks and over heating now taken care of. now its a mater of getting rid of the "Death Wobble".

Re: Worth keeping?
the death wobble isnt that bad. it just feels like on tire is out of balance a little and its just at about 60MPH. anything faster or slower and its fine.
and i bought it for 4200 so if i sell it for 500 i lose tons of money. |

Re: Worth keeping?
Ouch! You paid $4200? KBB says in excellent condition it's worth $2200:
( http://www.kbb.com/kb/ki.dll/kw.kc.u...;ucp;&17;JE;E2 ) Anyway, I take it you're not considering a new vehicle...so rather than take a huge loss on this one, you may want to work with what you have. The problems aren't that serious, but they are numerous. You'll learn a lot. But if you aren't too keen on doing a lot of work, and you're in the financial position to take the loss, then finding another vehicle is the option to take.

Re: Worth keeping?
i had NEVER experienced death wobble, or even heard of it before. the seller warned me not to go over 60MPH. i was doin 70MPH thinkin he was just a nut. hit the joint of a bridge just right and SWORE i had a flat tire and the axle was gonna break. only thing i could so was pull over and start again. EVERYTHING on the underside is loose. Have ordered new tie rods etc, hoping it is related to this.

Re: Worth keeping?
i did the value in excellent condition on KBB and it said 3500. i have all the possible options you could get in 1990. and it was worth what i bought it for when i bought it.

well, i have a 1990 laredo with all the options 4.0 4x4 ...everything....when i bought it it was in not the greatest condition and i decided that i wanted to keep it...now after i fixes my laundry list of probelms its running great. if i was you and you enjoy working on cars keep it but if you dont want to spend som time and a little $$ get rid of it..... maybe part it out? but eather way you look at it your probebly going to spend close to the same
