LS Radio

I just bought a 01 V8 LS and it had the tape/changer controller head unit, so I bought the 6 disc in dash head unit. When I called Circuit City to ask about installation they asked me if I called Lincoln to see if my car has the built in amp or if it is in the radio because if the car had the amp then the new radio could blow up the whole system...hmmm
It was like he was speaking another language so as always i come here for all of the infinite wisdom.

Thanks.

Re: LS Radio

Certainly don't quote me on this, as I'm not very familiar with the 2001. I suspect that the audio system they are referring to is the THX certified system with built-in navigation system. That is the system that has the center image amplifier and subwoofer amplifier. I believe the two lower grade audio systems, which the two systems you are interested in, are very similar and would be a simple swap.

It appears that the 4 speakers will work fine and be a direct connection. The subwoofers and sub amp as well as the center image speakers and amp are optional with the 6-disc in-dash unit (Model CDX6). You won't have either with the original deck (Premium version), but that doesn't appear that that will prevent the CDX6 from working.

I posted a follow-up on to your other post. If you enter the self diagnostic mode, it may point you in the right direction. I can e-mail you the steps to enter the diagnostic mode.
