96 caravan transmission adjustments

I have a 96 3.0L dodge caravan 3spd with od. Reverse gear doesn't kick in till the engine is reved to a very high rpm and then it slams in.first and second gear seem to work fine but it also seems to have to get high rpms to go into third. I plan on changing the fluids and filter. I,ve heard that some tranny's bands can be adjusted when the pan is removed,is this true and does anyone have info on how to do such adjustments.

It is true and yes you can on your van. I would by Haynes or Chiltons manual available for $15-20 at any auto parts store.

The OD one don't have band, it's fully electronic controlled; change fluid/filter is good, as long as only using ATF+3;
