Hyundai Tiburon GT vs Thunderbird LX

I dont remember the last time I got into a street race.... well anyways, here I am sitting at a stop light, making a left turn, when a black Hyundai Tiburon GT flys by... hmmm... too bad this light took forever.

I finally cought up to the GT, who happens to be doing nearly 70 in a 50. I pace him for a bit to let him know im there. I pass him goin about 5 mph faster to let him see my car. It musta been the newly painted red calipers, or the "4.6" on the fender...

The car gods up above made the upcomming light change to yellow then red. We begin to slow down and he stays behind, and slowly creeps up next to me. I think to myself.. "meh, he probably aint gonna go for it.."

Light changes to green, and I hear him get on it. It cought me off gaurd so he got the jump. Hes about a half carlength ahead and I can smell his exhaust. I nail it, and the 4.6 opens wide. I just replaced the dirty old MAFS and cleaned out the air filter, and it was making a difference. I was dead even by 60, by 70 I was pulling a fender, by 90 I was walking him with about a carlength and a half.

I slow down, and he buzzes by me, still going at it (almost a ricer fly by?) So I nail it again, and get right on his back door. Then we catch another light. Were 2nd and third in line in the right lane, next to a "modified" Civic.. Traffic finally brakes up, and I hear the GT get on it again. I follow suit, and head the buzz of the civic try to keep up with us, but fall behind. By this poaint weve cought up to more traffic so we decide to go on our own ways...

I believe the SS is his Dad's car. He might get it later on though. Atleast he'll have alot of practice before he gets it.

I have to admit that the V6 Tiburon leaves alot to be desired. When I had my car dyno tuned there was a guy there w/ a Tiburon V6 GT. He had a catback, CAI, and Power FC or something that dealt with A/F ratio. Anyways, I was all furious, cause the first dyno run my car only put down 330whp with the cam (Before tuning was complete). The guy was all amazed at how much I put down, and couldn't understand while I was pissed. After I picked up my final dyno run of 351whp he was really impressed. I thought his car would put down atleast 160whp. He ended up only putting down 148whp. He had a right to be pissed off.

On a side note his car is now much more powerful, after he supercharged it. It put down 220whp, and the dyno I went on is known for pessimistic numbers (The way I like it).

Re: Hyundai Tiburon GT vs Thunderbird LX

Nice kill. All I gotta say about Tibbys is that my buddies ES300, with him and me in it, and its DIY home made SRAM (Not even a Cone filter...) pulled on a Tibby GT V6 (current version) from a dig and a roll.
