Usually the first sign if you do have a cracked block is:
You keep having to add coolant to radiator. Hope your blocks ok.

Theres a couple ways you can tell.. do a pressure test on the radiator And Check for water in the oil or oil in the water...

Depends. Is the engine in or out of the car?
Are you planning on rebuiling it and want to know if it's got a crack before assembling? Are you having some symptoms that may indicate you've got a cracked block?
