Buying maintenance upgrade?

I am thinking about buying the maintenance upgrade(48 mo/50000 mi)on a 2002 330 but it seems like a lot of money? Does anyone have any thoughts on the matter? I'm not sure if it's worth it.

Well, you're right that the extended warranty is expensive .. But I've bought it for my 330Ci mainly b/c my previous Chrysler had a gas tank leak just 2 weeks before that car's extended warranty expires. I'd expect BMWs to be of better quality, but it's just the peace-of-mind thing.

My BMW dealer did mention that if I don't buy it at the time, I can still buy it later on, so you might wanna see if that works for you too. Btw, my coverage is called AutoShield.

:flash: it depends,if i was you i would hold off for now. the upgrade can be purchased at any time before the vechile is 3 yr.s old or has 36000 miles.cost should be 399.00.if you have to have brakes done before 24,000 miles then you probably should buy it(it will cover brakes).if not i would pass.399.00 buys a lot of maint.

Maintainence upgrade

Its not a extended warrenty, its a maintainence up grade.I asked the same question,is it worth the $399? on another site and the concencus was NO.I said that a complete brake job alone can cost you as much as $1200 and they seemed to think I was nuts .I just read on another site a fellow was concerned about paying $800 for pads and rotors all the way around at the bmw dealer,(I guess I'm not that nuts).most of the answers were either ,do it your self or don't take it to a bmw dealer. the way I feel IMHO I want to keep my car ALL BMW not after market parts. Now that $399 doesn't look that bad to me.A lot of other things can go wrong besides brakes.
good luck

In my and others experience you can often get the extension thrown in as a deal maker by the dealer.I might be hesitant to pay for it otherwise.
