EDIT: Ford Escort ~VS~ Ford Mustang

So Im a newbie to positng here but Ive been lurking for a long time. So long in fact, that I could probably write a 10 page biography on all of you, especially Musashi. But really, I could. BTW Musashi I really like your goat. The blue on blue is a nice touch, especially since it was the only one available in any dealers near you.

So anyways I never registered because until recently I was 15 so I could'nt drive anyways ( Have to be 16 for a permit in New Jersey ). But anyways about 2 weeks ago I got my permit after turning 16 in May. Now with the permit I need a supervising driver like my Mom or Dad so Im obviously not going to streetrace with them next to me. As you can see by this equation Streetrace + Parents = Death. I had to do 6 hours of driving with an instructor before I could get the permit validated. So I hired some school to take me for my 6 hours of behind the wheel driving. I hired a school, and to tell you the truth, I have no idea how they're still in business. My instructor was a crazy Russian guy who loved to speed. Not that Im complaining. We go along great and we talked more about video games than driving and he was busy looking at houses and ranting about them while I was driving past shore communities and such. But he was totally relaxed because Im a very capable driver, since my dad and uncle were race car drivers. So Ive always been around cars.

Ok so enough of the autobiography...

So I was heading back home from my first 3 hour session of the 6 hours I needed to complete. I was driving and the instructor was next to me in the passengers seat.

So I come to a red light. As Im pulling up I notice a silver mustang next to me. Were both the first cars at the light and it was a two lane highway with a grass divider and some trees and shrubbery in the divider. So I look over at him with a serious look and do the point to the eyes thing from Meet the Parents ( You know, the thing jack does with the point to your eyes then point at him thing-- meaning " Im watching you " ) So I do that and he throws a rev at me. Now keep in mind I'm in an old Ford Escort, probably a 1990 with 96k miles. I throw a rev back and the car shudders violently so I immediately stare straight ahead and pretend to drop something on the floor and pick it up to avoid total emabrassment ( the car also shuddered everytime it reached 40mph, which I assume is when it shifts to second.....wait a minute, do Ford Escorts even have a second gear? ). Now I dont know if any of you know what kinda numbers these Ford Probes put down. But I know they have 88 hp at the crank, yeah thats right.....88hp. Gangsta if I do say so myself. So I look over at the instructor, whos about to die of laughter in his crazy Russian giggle-fest in the passengers seat, and he nods and says go for it. So my adrenaline is pumping fast since its my first streetrace and the light turns green. I scream like a giddy school girl and mash the gas hoping that maybe by some off chance he might think my scream was a supercharger. So anyways after about 3 or 4 seconds the 'ol Escort finally starts to go somewhere. Then it hit me like a cold slap in the face. I remebered just after the light there was a hill. Not to steep but not flat either. I was crushed, my efective HP just went down to about 50. The Mustang dissapeared over the hill as I made it up at around 40 mph. I looked over and the instructor was almost falling off the seat in laughter.

I would also like to add that there were two stickers on each side of the car with the name of the driving school and STUDENT DRIVER in big letters. These added at leats 50 whp, but it was all useless due to the large STUDENT DRIVER sign on the roof. That decreased my aerodynamics and made all that gained HP useless.

So in the end I lost the race, but on a side note, I did beat the Boston Whaler boat being towed on a trailer by the truck behind the mustang. That fool should have just stayed on the water.

EDIT: It seems in my medically induced stupor, I confused a Ford Probe with a Ford Escort. Heh. The actual car i was in was a Ford Escort.

Re: Ford Probe ~VS~ Ford Mustang

I remember my driving school expirience. In short it happened in Orange county, I was driving corolla with 270k miles and I had a latino instructor who barely spoke any english. I wish I was in your position...

Re: Ford Probe ~VS~ Ford Mustang

Funny story. I just got my permit also. I don't have to go for road lesson until I go for my license. The guy I'm gonna go with is a friend of the family. He's constantly on his cell during the road lessons so you really can't fail unless you get into an accident but he seems to pass everyone. Nice Mustang fivepointohhhh. My friend has a 93 5.0 notch and the car is mint. It's hard to find clean 3rd Gen F-Body's and Mustang up here.

Re: Ford Probe ~VS~ Ford Mustang

Thats a funny death/kill. It sucks how you guys have to wait until your 16 to get your permit. Here we can get it when we are 14, and then 6 months later we can get our license. It is scary to see a lot of 8th and 9th grade kids driving around though

Haha, one of the best first posts I've seen in a while. I like this kid. Good death in the Probation.

drive safe man, I'd hardly say I'm the best driver in teh world, but that early on, you seriously don't have the experience behind hte wheel to correct a bad situation, so be safe and don't put yourself in one yet.

Re: Ford Probe ~VS~ Ford Mustang

Ok ok you caught me. I dont know enough to write 10 pages about you people. But I do have general knowledge about most of you.. Id have to say the most I know about is Musashi but thats only because Ive been stalking him for the past 2 years. Naw, not really.

Although I am dissapointed that I can no longer say I probed a whaler. Darn.

The least I can do for GForce though is write a small paragraph. Unfortunately, Im too lazy to think of something to say, so Ill just " borrow " another mans work that I have next to my plate here......:ahem:

GForce, what can I say about him. Well as a wise man once wrote...." True happiness will be discovered soon, in an unexpected way." He then went on to say on the back of the small piece of paper " Learn Chinese ; X&^5....Chinese word meaning " Fish "

BTW, Sweet N' Sour chicken rules.
