Mitsubishi 3000gt vs Honda NSX

Mitsubishi 3000gt vs Honda NSX
Its 9:00pm on a Saturday night, I’m in the mood for racing like usual, so I go through the middle of town sounding off the new HKS SSQ BOV that I just installed, and flicking through 1 and 2nd redlining looking to get attention. Quite happy with the rolling starts and launches that I am able to achieve with my recently reconditioned Twin plate and aluminium flywheel combination I’m quite confident that I’m able to take anything that New Plymouth has to throw at me tonight. Even if I’m only boosting 15.5 psi on pump gas.

I hear a high pitched sound coming from behind not knowing quite what to make of it my first impression was that off a Japanese sports bike, as I see two head lights quickly approaching from behind it quickly becomes apparent to me that it’s a car but which one, obviously a Ferrari I think to myself, I shift to first and wait in anticipation for the lights to turn green. We are on a one way street leading through the middle of town the lights finally change and I punch the pedal and power slide over to the right lane I hit ignition cut then shift to second I’m at 4000rpm he pulls up next to me, I glance over to my surprise and see a Red honda NSX old school deep dish mags and very low, I wait for him to punch it he shifts almost immediately I follow keeping up with his bumper my head stuck to the seat of my car I shift to 3rd at almost 8000rpm where I hit egnition cut again, he’s crawled almost a car ahead of me and we are going around 150kph through the middle of town I’m hitting egnition cut when we slow down before the next set of lights.

A guy in his 40’s winds down his windows, smiles and says nice car, think you can keep up. I give him the thumbs up. Eager to bet him I notice people at the nearby alfresco restaurant watching in anticipation I give my car a good rev and let my BOV sound he does like wise (no BOV). This time I think I’m gonna take him from the launch. The lights once again turn green I launch at 7000rpm wanting to give it all my wheels spin loos a second before we launch I jump ahead he’s at my door I quickly power shift into second keeping the rpm’s as high as possible then all goes dead my car shuts down completely, I struggle to take stare of the car going 80kph I desperately try to start her while keeping eye on the road and watching his car speed off into the distance, on the third go she starts I turn down a nearby intersection, fuck I blew my chance in beating the NSX but my worries soon turned to my car, looking for any sign of engine damage I look at the temp which is alright and then take a look at the exhaust temp guage which is running a little high but nothing to be concerned about given the time I’d spent racing that night. My car is running real rough but I keep her on to save the Turbo’s.

Lucky enough to make it home I do more inspection around the car the next day where I find the wire to my engine management system in the glove compartment (HKS Fcon) was partially unplugged I reconnect it and every thing ran fine to my relief.

You can view the Wire to the ECU here: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...303720&page=16

note that my car has had more done to it since these pics. Pics will be updated soon.

Damn, tough luck Ralliart. So how much approx has been put into that beast since 96? It has to be nearin $200k doesnt it? And do you have any idea as to how much power your putting to the ground yet...I recall you saying you are getting it detuned.

Nice race, you should go find that guy again. BTW, how are you liking the new setup on your car?

Man sucks you didnt get a good shot at the NSX, would've been a fun race, but glad to hear you fixed the problem and got it running again, now you can hunt down that honda and have a real battle.

And nice avatar Rice(er)

Hey bro, 15.5 is detuned puts out 362hp At the Wheels, My boost for the Track is 25psi 530bhp at the wheels I would have taken him easy with that setting but sadly race gas is illegal for onroad.

has had 120,000.00 + USD put in since 95

The New SSQ BOV sound nice but very similar to my old HKS SSQ, although this one doesn't vent at idle which is good. The rest of my set up is the same, just replaced/reconditioned parts. low boost sucks. although I took my freinds who own 400hp Galants around the back B roads and they almost pissed there pants, looked over to the passenger seat once we stoped and my freind was griping his hair lol didn't seem to help that he got a little stoned an hour before.

Re: Mitsubishi 3000gt vs Honda NSX

he bought a special edition 3kgt, it was already modded when he bought it.

i beleive he's been detuning or is planning on doing so, and as you can read he had a problem during the race

i see what your getting at mad max cause i killed a nsx a while ago and with his upgrades he should have killed it, but he was having problems, and or that guy in the nsx is rich and could afford a supercharger

Re: Mitsubishi 3000gt vs Honda NSX

I could only see exaust and kit with what looked like Brembo Brakes but I'm not sure, this was the model with the pop up lights. also had a suspension upgrade.

and yes 120,000.00 was spent on my car. I purchased my 1991 for 50,000.00 USD almost 2 1/2 years ago now. and still paying for its since I'm only 20 with an average job making somthing like 30,000.00 USD a year.

Re: Mitsubishi 3000gt vs Honda NSX

Dang, you must not wanna keep that transfer case launching at 7K rpms. That's way too high. Anyways, nice death, and i'm happy the car was easy to repair.
