Whoohoo!

I just spent 150 bucks at the hobby store, but it was well worth it.

Got the tamiya ferrari f40, amt pro shop 1/6 scale 57 corvette fi engine, revell mustang muscle pack (65 conv, 70 boss 302, 89 conv) so i can finally part out a 5L fi stang into a 95 ranger! Also picked up a few supplies including some stuff I've never used before.

One thing I really wanted to get but just couldn't bring myself to spend 110 bucks on was that realistic revell 1/4 scale V8:

read about it here: http://www.revell-monogram.com/store...1&FromSearch=1

Anyone build this thing? It looks awesome! Oh well, that vette engine will be cool once I'm done... Always wanted to build an historic engine replica only problem is all my supplies are back in my appt 2000 km away, so i have to wait a month to start on any of em

I'm in Vancouver right now for the rest of summer. Rest of the year, I'm a student at the U of L. In between the bridge and calgary all the time though.

I LOVE that V8 engine model. I was considering getting it when my hobby shop had a half off sale on it, so I think it was only $25. Got a silverado and a lightning instead!

Ranger,that 1/4 scale V8 has a long history,it was originally a Renwal
kit issued in the early '60s. Then Revell got the molds and rereleased it and
the originals had an electric motor to turn the engine instead of the hand crank !

Renwal had a companion kit that went with the V8 ,it was a complete
chassis with working brakes and transmission in 1/4 scale .

VERY RARE AND EXPENSIVE TODAY !!!

I have the 1/4 scale Ford 4 cylinder by Revell built up,it's cool watching everything move and the spark plugs flash in time!
By the way $110 bucks for the Visible V8 is a bit much

Re: Whoohoo!

My god! I'm amazed the picture links still work on a thread as old as this one.

Fair question, but I don't know the answer sorry.

I'm amazed too, more amazed that I got notification that this 3 year old thread was answered

The Visible V8 wasn't representative of any particular OHV V8. It's appearance suggests Cadillac or Oldsmobile of the 50s or 60s though.
I hope that helps.

I thought I read somwhere that it was based somewhat on the old Stude engine of the era. Of course it could be a combination of all the Big Three!

BTW, I have a started Renwal 1/4 scale chassis kit...........Lord knows if I'll ever complete as I need the space to display that thing!

I'd forgotten I posted those here

I've had "builders block" for quite awhile. I sold off most of my kits and built ups and I'm moving to Europe by the end of the year.
