996 Tracker P0740 code & service engine lite

Hi, Finally bought a code scanner to see what was causing my service engine light. Got a P0740 code which is, according to my factory manual, a problem in the torque converter clutch circuit. This is a 96 Tracker with the 3 speed automatic 4x4. Anyone had any experience with this problem? Thanks, Ed

I had to replace the convertor solenoid to correct mine. Not a very expensive part, just takes time to do, as you need to remove the trans pan, front driveshaft if 4x4. you should really follow the diagnostic chart for this problem, as it could also be a wire, relay, solenoid etc.
