I was curious if the 97 mountaineers had factory installed keyless systems and how you could check to see if your vehicle does, if not where is a good place to get a keyless entry installation kit for this rig? It already has power windows/locks. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Re: 1997 mountaineer keyless?
Quick way to check is to cycle the key from "OFF" to "ON" 8 times within 10 seconds ending in the "ON" position. Try it several times. If you hear the locks cycle, then that is when you would hit a button on the remote "FOB" to program it.

Re: 1997 mountaineer keyless?
Cycle Ignition from OFF to RUN 5 times within 10 seconds, ending in RUN. All doors will lock then unlock to confirm programming mode. Press any button on 1st remote transmitter. Door locks will cycle to confirm programming. Press any button on 2nd transmitter ( up to 4 transmitters total possible ). Turn ignition to OFF. Locks will again cycle to indicate end of programming mode.
