97 eclipse engine conversion

I heard that if you switch the top of the 2.4 sohc engine with the 2.0 dohc it would give you a significant hp boost, is this true?

Re: 97 eclipse engine conversion

You will get about 120-125 hp gain from that. Do it. Do it.

Do it.

Re: 97 eclipse engine conversion

No, it will not give you a significant boost in "hp". Although you will have a DOHC head instead of SOHC, it's not that big of a gain unless you're going turbo.

Re: 97 eclipse engine conversion

The DOHC is way better flowing than that goofy SOHC shit. You wont get a shit ton more power just by doing it, but you will get more out of your mods.

Re: 97 eclipse engine conversion

I dont believe that the GST head will fit on your car....the motor in your car now is a 420A motor...which is a chrysler motor that is mostly used in the Neon....and GST's have a 4G63 motor which is a Mitsubishi motor and they are completly differant....

He drives a spyder with a 2.4 motor in it. A GST head would fit on that car's motor. And just the head itself no cams and such, is about 250 bucks for one completely reworked like new.

The Non-spyder RS/GS models from 95-99 had the 420A, which is a Chrysler motor.
