What is the best model of 97-99 Eclipse?

I need to know which model of 97-99 Eclipse is the fastest, or most sporty. I also need to make sure that the 97, 98 , and 99's are the ones that have the large opening in the front bumper. (The one after the 95's shark-like appearance) The most common ones basically. I plan to buy a used Eclipse and upgrade it and I need some power. thanks

There are two Eclipses that I would recommend. The first is the 99 GSX. If you are looking for power, this is the car for you. 210 ponies and ~215 lb ft of torque flowing through an All Wheel Drive drivetrain can provide 15.0 or 14.9 passes stock. These cars are capable of 1.6 and even 1.5 60' foot times with only a little amount of money invested. If however, your goal is to pick up ladies, I would recommend the GST Spyder. You'll get the smooth lines of the 2G, with a drop top and still have the same power and torque, but only FWD this time. The Spyder will make a good highway racer, but it'll spin tire very easily. The body style you want is from 1997 to 1999.
