Supercharged cavalier adventures

Yeaup. A buddy of mine has had a z24 cavi for awhile now. He recently broke up with his g/f so he managed to pull 3 grand out of his ass and bought a supercharger. It is very nice I must admit. Cool part is that it is on a cavi and it is deffinatly a sleeper mobile. Anway so far in one weekend he has smoked a highly modified integra gsr(2 car lengths), a lightly modded vr6(3-4 car lengths), oh and I can't forget this one... a lightly modded gsx(2 car lengths). The gsx was running 10 pounds spiking a 12(stock turbo). The gsx also had a bov, boost controler, exhaust, intake. Not much but, still a nice kill.

The s/c does not wind real loud if he doesn't pull the gears out all the way so it makes for a nice sleeper. He is only running about 5-6 pounds of boost but, he is ordering an 8-10 pound pully very soon. I loved setting up races last weekend with people who were 99% sure they were going to smoke him then seeing their face after the race as they say... "Wtf?! It's just a cavi..."

Re: Supercharged cavalier adventures

I have not raced him yet. I thought my car had a blown headgasket because of the frequent overheating issue but, it suddenly went away. I did have the crappy compression test though. I am still babying my car untill I further diagnose the situation.

Re: Supercharged cavalier adventures

I think I remember him telling me low-mid 14s with current boost then mid-high 13s with 10pounds of boost.

2.0 - probably like 24's
2.4 - probably high 16's/low 17's, if it's an auto, it's got a slow second gear.

Re: Supercharged cavalier adventures

Its a z24 so its the 2.4 It is also the 01 so it is the last year(I think) before the new Ecotec motor. The car is pretty quick for a cavi IMO. He is getting that pully with his next paycheck and then cams with the paycheck after that. He wants to go with alky injection in the future and max out the superchargers limits(about 15psi) I think it will be interesting to see a decently fast cavi around. Maybe some people around my town will start to get the idea that decals and park benchs don't make a car fast...

Re: Supercharged cavalier adventures

POST UP SOME PICS! I have a Cavy too.

The cavaliers have 2.2 and 2.4 litre engines not 2.0 at least the newer ones do.

I have a stock (just intake) 4-dr 2002 cavalier auto. My 0-60 time has been clocked in at 11.9 seconds. Thats right...beware.

Edit> Very true, gthompson....second gear is a long ASS gear...but thats where all the power is.

Re: Supercharged cavalier adventures

Oh god I hate cavis. Well not hate... they're fun little cars. I drove my girls all around town today and on the expressway. I try to switch lanes and floor it and the car just sits there. FIrst it has to decide whether or not to downshift, then when it does, there' nothing. Plus, I always go to hit the clutch, but it's an auto. Force of habbit. I think hers is a 2.0. So slow.

You're right, it's a 2.2 not a 2.0, I'm just so use to our cars. We have a '00 z24 and it's not bad for a Cavy, except for that long ass 2nd gear, it shifts down too far into the rpm range and bogs the first 1500 rpm of that gear, then after that the car goes pretty good.

Re: Supercharged cavalier adventures

Oh and his is a 5 speed. It is deffinatly a decently fast car expecially for a cavi. Here is his cardomain http://www.cardomain.com/ride/662091 . His supercharger is on the 2nd page. Oh and yes, he says his second gear is the strongest. He ussually likes to go from 35mph rolls or close to it so he can start in 2nd.
