Rear A/C Problems

I have a 2000 Chevrolet Tahoe. My front A/C works fine, but my rear A/C doesn't blow at all. Whenever, I turn on the front A/C and then turn on the rear A/C, I hear a loud whinning noise and then the rear a/c shuts off and their is no air blowing at all. Where are some places I could check to see what the problem is? Thanks a lot.

Try to pinpoint it.
Where is the noise comming from? Rear unit front unit or engine cmpartment?
Does just the rear shut off or both front and rear?
Auto matic or manual air controls.

Re: Rear A/C Problems

it is coming from the rear area. Sounds like it's form the top. I have automatic controls also, but not electronic.

oh and just the rear shuts out. The front blows full blast and never shuts off automatically.

If from rear check fan motor and fan cage.
Does the noise follow fan speed?
You may have to have a look in there.
And last but do not forget check for pcm/computer body codes.
If any codes post back.
Good Luck
