New limited series of Minichamps Mclaren F1's

Good new for collectors who do not own one of these awesome models. Minichamps are going to re-release a small number of models in silver. Considering the insane prices they go for on ebay it will be good to purchase one at normal prices if you get in fast enough

Re: New limited series of Minichamps Mclaren F1's

I'm surprised they would reissue the 1:12 model. Will this make my 1:12 F1 from the first production run more or less valuable?

you do bring up a good point, but it gives folks like me a second chance to get one... were there a lot of inaccuracies in the original one?

Re: New limited series of Minichamps Mclaren F1's

How do you know they'll only produce a small amount and only in silver?

I hope they make the model more accurate, which would give us a reason to buy a 2nd one whilst keeping the values of 1st run models.

Is there any more information about this elsewhere?

Actually prices on Ebay have fallen quite a bit. Several have sold recently for just over $400 which is just over what they were released at originally.
The re-release will presumably be inline with other models of this size - meaning $450 minimum.

Edit: whoops - just found the price on the Sportcraft site - $394.95

I actually saw something about this in Classic Car mag a few months ago but dismissed it thinking it was too good to be true. Colours of the cars will be red, silver, yellow and dark green (i'm pretty sure those were the colours the article gave)

I wish they would make colors they didn't have in the original run.....like the blue used on chassis 011, maybe white, black and papya orange....if those colors would come out i would deffinatly have to buy...say...4 of them.

I definitely agree - and Papaya would be awesome - even 'though I'm quite sure that we won't see an LM anytime soon.

I echo your papaya orange wish... but thats highly unlikely since it wouldn't be considered as a 'conventional color'... unlike silver, maroon, blue, etc... oh well...

Guess I'll just have to buy an extra to respray - which I would not have dreamt of doing with the prices on Ebay!.

still a cool $400... plus would it be hard to mix a papaya orange from model paint?

I wouldn't use model paint - it would be Dupont, PPG or Glasurit or similar and mixed to order by an auto body supply shop. Not cheap but well worth it for this model.

I hear ya... I guess if you're gonna get it done, you gotta do it properly... plus you gotta fabricate the HDK...
