Re: cooling problems?

I would get an auto electrician to check your electrics. Tell him you think it’s the radiator fan. Even if its going while you are parked it could stop while you start to drive. The motor on these fans brake down slowly, so you can’t tell.

so you've already changed the thermostat. good for you, that was gonna be my first suggestion.

when it gets hot, how hot does the temperature gauge read? does it get all the way up to the red "H" ?

i'm not positive about how the radiator fans work, but i DO know that they WILL come on when you have the A/C turned on. not just the blower running, but the A/C button has to be pressed as well. this will ensure that the radiator fans are on and running. try this next time you notice the engine temp. getting hot.

Re: cooling problems?

I think you have a clog somewhere... Our radiators work better when we are at speed and I actually find the temperature is lower when the car is moving...

Check for a coolant hose somewhere that is restricting the coolant flow (bulges, parts that feel softer then normal, etc.)

Re: cooling problems?

Yep, t-stat and a clog were gonna be my first two guesses.
Just to make sure your fans are working, turn the car on, and turn the AC on, I think that causes both fans to come on if memory serves me correctly.

Yes, it does, I would know I was trying to charge my A/C last night.
