06 Duramax/Allison

Anyone out there have the 06? if so, what kind of mileage are you getting running empty? Any problems? Anything you wish you had but didn't?

I am looking at purchasing on within the next few weeks. Had a hard time deciding between Silverado or Sierra.

Re: 06 Duramax/Allison

I just bought a 06 Sierra a month ago.

The mileage so far on the hwy is about 18 and 14/15 in town (empty).

I just pulled my Airstream TT around for a solid week (after break-in) and was getting 11 with the trailer.

This truck pulls GREAT!!!

I like the GMC frontend better than Chevy.

If your looking, better get it now before Jan 1. That's when the new EPA regs kick in and will add another $3000 to the Duramax.

Re: 06 Duramax/Allison

Thanks for the response. I'm going with the GMC as well. Something about the Chevy front end that just doesn't do it for me. I will be buying withing the next 2 weeks. I don't want an 07 diesel since it will be harder to find the right fuel. The 06 and later will burn the new low sulphur with an additive and the old diesel as well. I will be doing some heavy load trailering and a lot of highway miles.

Looking forward to getting the truck
