Gas mileage? What's yours

Got a 96 Tracker 4x4 with the 3 speed auto. Getting about 20MPG average using the AC full time and driving about half on the highway at 65 MPH and half around town. I do have a service engine light on that I havn't trouble-shot yet. What kind of mileage do You-all get? Ed

I have a 95 and two 96 Trackers (4 x 4 w/Auto OD) and they all get about the same. 22 local and 25 highway. The CHECK ENGINE lights have been on for years.

Just got a code scanner and put it on the car, came up with a P0740, which means problem in the torque converter clutch circuit according to my factory manual. Any ideas on where to look first?

Re: Gas mileage? What's yours

Last week I took care of my ck engine kight, had to replace the torque converter clutch solenoid. Not to bad a job except for the trans oil constantly dripping in your face. My light stays off now and I can feel the torque converter lockup at 47 MPH. (3 speed auto trans) Tomorrow I'll gas up and see how it affected my MPG. Ed

1996 Tracker 2WD 5 seed gets 28 mpg. I live in the country and its mostly highway driving. When I lived in the city, with stop and go driving, it got about 27 mpg.
