99 Trans dilemmas

Gents,

I have a '99 24v DOHC, not a bad ride, transmission is having some serious problems though.

-issue started after "trans service" was done (I assume this meant changing the transmission fluid), at higherspeeds, seemed to be a stutter to swtich gears, sort of a vvv....vvv...vvv....vrooom... as it would shift.

Now it's more often, though if the car is cold, trans holds tight, no vrubbing...

Other problem occured. My battery finally KONKED on me, had to get a tow to the nearest auto store, I assume having the car raised sloshed some sediment or something into somewhere. The next day on the highway, when coasting, was experiencing some reccuring friction, like i was applying the brakes, seemed to be caused by the trans forward spinning the engine, as when I applied some gas to keep the rpm level with the speed, i could coast.

My initial reaction is flush the tranmission, add new fluid, hopefully with some "special sauce" to tighten it back up.

I'm 24, underpayed, and would appreciate any know-how.

Thanks

Re: 99 Trans dilemmas

Did the filter get changed? Also who did the flush on tranny?

Alot of times when a tranny is flushed metal shavings will be pushed into the valve body or into the planetary gears.

But this most likely sounds like either water in the tranny or an associated electrical/computer problem. (If it was running fine before hand)

Re: 99 Trans dilemmas

After the battery is changed, I believe the trans has to re-learn your driving style... I mean if you're a hard charger vs a nice conservative easy going driver, the shift points and such logged would be different.. that car has a tach??? Any slippage noted looking at it???

Re: 99 Trans dilemmas

Well the flush was done by a certified service center (BP).

Guess a new fluid change might help, I expected this.

in terms of the battery change, I doubt this had much to do with it, since the slipping problem is the same, though the coasting problem came after, as a result, I would guess of the pan got sloshed and jammed more metal shavings into the inner workings.

I'll have to check more into trans and how they work.

thanks
