motor swap/differance question

I have 2 91 Grand prix SE 2 doors. The red one has a excellent body and interior with a blowen 3.4 and a 5speed. The white one is a trashed body and a 3.1 auto. I want the 3.1 and 5 speed in the red one. My question is, Is the 5 speed trans going to mate to the 3.1 and is the 3.4 flywheel giong to work on the 3.1? Anyone have any knowledge if they fit together it would be appeciated. Thanks JJ76TA.

Re: motor swap/differance question

The flywheels for the automatic are the same between the 3.1 and 3.4, but they didn't offer the 5-speed with the 3.1 so there is no listing. It may work on the 3.1 (since the auto flywheels are the same), but your biggest hurdle is wiring and electronics. Since they never offered the 3.1/5speed combo, there is no harness available for your combo, and the vehicle speed sensors are different (not to mention the stick doesn't have the TCC plug, electronic shift soleonoids, etc...). The engine harnesses are also different, so you can't use the 3.4 engine harness with the 3.1. The ECM, prom chip, speedo calibration among other things are other obstacles.
